Dan Caprio, co-founder of The Providence Group and AEGIS Project partner, will moderate two panels on cybersecurity and privacy at the 9th Annual Internet of Things European Summit in Brussels on May 15 and 16. The summit focuses on policy and industry developments affecting the Internet of Things field.
Caprio will moderate the “Data privacy and control: Empowering the Smart Consumer, enabling innovation” panel, which will examine privacy risks linked to the Internet of Things field and the efforts taken to address such concerns. The panel will also cover whether there is more work needed in this area.
Additionally, Caprio will also facilitate the “Is cybersecurity keeping up with IoT developments?” panel. The cybersecurity panel will analyze the evolving security requirements for the Internet of Things sector, the community´s response to Advanced Persistent Threats and the current cybersecurity regulatory framework, among other topics.
Both events address key areas of today´s digital environment. AEGIS works to foster dialogue between stakeholders in these policy areas.
Caprio is an internationally recognized expert on privacy and cybersecurity. He served as Chief Privacy Officer and Deputy Assistant Secretary at the U.S. Department of Commerce, a transatlantic subject matter expert for the European Commission’s Internet of Things formal expert group, Chief of Staff for a Federal Trade Commission Commissioner and a member of the Department of Homeland Security´s Data Privacy and Integrity Advisory Committee.
