The Cybersecurity and Privacy Advisory Committee (CPAC), part of the Global City Teams Challenge initiative, will be hosting a “Symposium for Smart Cities and Communities” on Oct. 5 in San Jose, California.
The event will consist of an open discussion on CPAC security and privacy guidelines as well as on strategies to address funding challenges related to cybersecurity and privacy in Smart Cities and Communities.
The Symposium for Smart Cities and Communities aims to develop solutions to these funding challenges by introducing a regional cybersecurity approach that can be scaled and sustained. It also aims to understand the local government risk and protection against cyber threats.
According to CPAC, the symposium has broad support from U.S. government agencies, including the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Organization (CISA), the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), as well as from the industry.
