The AEGIS project consortium participated in the EU-US Next Generation Internet (NGI) collaboration workshops in Washington, D.C. on July 10. The workshops were organized by Think NEXUS, a Horizon 2020 project that aims to reinforce EU-US collaboration in NGI in areas such as science and technology, innovation and entrepreneurship, and policy.
AEGIS project members took part in the policy breakout session and the innovation and entrepreneurship breakout session. They highlighted the importance of EU-US cooperation in cybersecurity, which is a crucial pillar in the development of Next Generation Internet. AEGIS members also pointed to examples of successful collaboration between the EU and the US.
One example highlighted by the consortium was the cooperation effort in cybersecurity standardization and certification. Both regions have agreed to work together in standards and conformity assessment, including certification approaches, for connected devices.
The Think Nexus Next generation Internet workshops included key US stakeholders in science and technology, government and the private sector. Participants included the National Institute of Standards and Technology, the European Union Delegation to the United States, the National Science Foundation and the Internet Society, among others.
